One of the questions I am most frequently asked is, “what is your skincare routine?” I thought I would put together a video (scroll to the bottom to watch!) that explains my current process so that you can see it in action. I’ve also written out my steps below, and have included affiliate links to these products where noted.
Please note that I may receive a commission if you purchase any of these items using my affiliate links. This helps keep this machine running! Thanks for your support!
One thing that I will add prior to getting into this explainer is that I tend to follow this routine for both my face and my neck, and I will often use the excess products on my hands as well. This leaves my face, neck, and hands feeling soft, smelling good, and practically sparkling.
I love this oil because it has an earthy, natural fragrance, glides onto my skin super easily and is gentle. This is the first cleansing oil I have used regularly, and – like I said – it has been a real game-changer! This cleansing oil is comprised of the following oils: argan, jojoba, almond, sesame seed, grapeseed, and lavender.
Basically, you take several drops of the oil onto your clean hands. You massage the oil onto your face. Then, you want to use a damp cloth to gently wipe off the oil and grime. I use warm water on my damp cloth, but I know a lot of people like to use cool water in the morning.
Step Two: Toner
I love using a rosewater toner. It smells delightful, goes on easily, and gets the job done. I used the rosewater from Heritage Store (affiliate link) which is a pretty great value. The purpose of the toner is to help remove additional dirt and buildup. I use cotton rounds for this (until I make my own!), but I’ve also used small cloths.
Step Three: Cleansing Cream
I love this step! Often times, if I am running very short on time (I mean, this whole process takes me less than 5 minutes, but you know those days where you’re running around trying to multi-task and get ready), I will skip every step except for this one, and maybe step 4.
I’m loving the Seriously Soothing Cleansing Cream from Acure. It feels great, and it smells amazing! It’s so gentle and hydrating, so this is an especially great cleansing cream for sensitive skin and dry skin.
Once you finish washing your face with this cleansing cream, you don’t want to dry your face. I patted my face a little bit because I always soak my face when I wash it, but you definitely want your face to be at least a little damp. It makes the oil application a little easier and it feels like it helps your face absorb the oil that much more easily.
Step Four: Facial Oils
I used the H-Glow Formula Oil from Healing Natural Oils. It isn’t super heavy and still keeps my face feeling clean and bright. This particular oil contains jojoba oil, rosehip seed oil, avocado oil, helichrysum flower oil (which I often use during the winter when my eczema is particularly bad), and frankincense oil. This oil boasts improved skin texture and tone and is part of its wrinkle treatment line.
Step Five (Not Included in Video):
Sunscreen/sunblock/whatever you call your sun protectant. This is so important for protecting your skin! What’s the point of moisturizing and massaging and cleansing your face if your next move is to step outside and get sun damage?!
A Couple More Things…
Your diet plays a huge role in the status of your skin. Have you ever just gone on a binge of something you never eat and you know is bad for you? And maybe the next day your skin is feeling all greasy or pimply, or both? That ain’t a coincidence, folks! What you put inside your body plays a major role in how you look on the outside. I drink plenty of water and avoid fried foods and smoking, and actually don’t normally drink very often. This helps me keep my youthful glow. 😛
Another factor that should be considered: genetics. It’s not a minor factor, either! But while it’s not minor, it also doesn’t mean that you’re doomed to have “bad skin” forever.
This is my morning skincare routine, but it doesn’t mean it has to be yours! Consult a dermatologist, find a routine that works for you, and find your outer glow!
If you do try my skincare routine, let me know what you think! If you have some brands that you love, let me know that too! I’ve really come to enjoy experimenting with skincare, and have really ramped up my clean beauty routine over the last 6-8 months.
When was the last time you were so busy, you forgot to eat? You just go about your day, hustlin’ and bustlin’, and when it comes time to just sit down and put your feet up, you ask yourself, did I eat today? This happens to me ALL. THE. TIME. Sometimes, it’s work related. I…
