I received a free case of Health-Ade Kombucha‘s Paradise Variety Pack; nonetheless, all thoughts contained in this post are honest and come straight from the old noggin. This post does contain affiliate links, so if you make a purchase using the affiliate links, I may receive a small commission. |
Recently, I came to the conclusion that I may, in fact, appreciate watermelon (at least in kombucha).
This might sound weird because the assumption every summer seems to be that everyone loves watermelon. Watermelon is basically the pumpkin spice of the summer. It. Is. EVERYWHERE. Watermelon lemon. Watermelon lattes. Watermelon dish soap. Water(melon), water(melon), everywhere. For a person like me, who has never in their life enjoyed the company of watermelon, this is almost as annoying as the mosquitoes that seem to coincide with watermelon season (is this a coincidence? I think not.). Frankly, I’m more of a throw-mango-in-everything kinda girl, but nobody asked me.
Okay, so now that I’ve gotten this watermelon rant off my chest, let me tell you about how I came to the conclusion that I kinda sorta like watermelon in one unique situation.
Recently, I received a case of the
Paradise Variety Pack from Health-Ade Kombucha. This includes passionfruit-tangerine, tropical punch, and – you guessed it – watermelon kombucha. At first, I was afraid. I was petrified. I kept thinkin’ how I’d never liked watermelon a day of my life. I could’ve changed that flavor. I could’ve … (I can’t keep this up.)
I decided to power through it, and I actually tried the watermelon flavor first! I really, really liked it! Honestly, it was one of the best-tasting kombucha flavors I’d ever tried.
I don’t know what it is that made this kombucha taste so good, but it really was that good to take a fruit that I normally have no love for and make me… well… love it!
I have to give a shoutout to Health-Ade Kombucha because they really do make a great drink. They have tons of great flavors, and here’s part of the reason why: Health-Ade Kombucha is made with cold-pressed juice from organic produce. Have you ever tried a kombucha where it just tastes super vinegary or very, very sweet? I’ve never had that problem with Health-Ade, and I believe it’s the cold-pressed juice that really makes their brand stand out as one of my personal favorites.
I’ve been drinking a ton of kombucha, especially since I started
carb cycling earlier this summer, and so I’ve grown to be pretty picky about my kombucha.
I first started drinking kombucha fairly seriously when I tried the Whole 30 for the first time a few years ago. It’s amazing what happens to your digestion when you’re making significant changes to your diet. Funny how that works… Anyway, kombucha is great for dealing with these changes because, as a natural source for probiotics (fun fact: kombucha is a fermented tea beverage), it has good bacteria that support a healthy gut. It’s also a great alternative to the high-sugar, high-calorie drinks out there.
Alright, back to this watermelon issue…
Am I ready to venture off into the watermelon lemon universe? I don’t know. That’s kind of a big leap for me. If you have any advice for helping me make this watermelon transition, please let me know! I will warn you, though, that I find the texture of a watermelon extremely unpleasant to bite into, so don’t recommend regular degular raw watermelon to me, please!
Have you ever tried kombucha? What’s your favorite brand? Favorite flavor? What’s your deal when it comes to watermelon? What’s the best way to eat/drink it (besides raw!).
