Fit Fashion: September in Fabletics
Can you believe it’s already September? I know I can’t! By the end of this week, it will be 6 months since social distancing guidelines were put into place. Six months from now, who knows where we’ll be!
One thing I do know, though, is that I have been on my grind. My mantra for the month of September is “Channel Your Inner Super Hero.” As I mentioned in my Instagram Post (and in my weekly #ThursdayThoughts video), channeling your inner superhero is less about trying to do all of the things and leaping tall buildings in a single bound, and more about being proud of who you are, embracing confidence, and power posing your way to success and happiness.
Body language really does communicate a lot – both to the outside world and to ourselves. I tell my indoor cycling students all the time, especially when we’re in the midst of an especially difficult drill, to keep their chins up. Yes, it helps with your breathing, but it also helps with your mindset. The second you start looking down at your feet, you start to become discouraged and defeated. Try it the next time you’re out for a run, taking an indoor cycling class, or doing something else physically strenuous. If you find yourself starting to look down at your feet, pause, stick your chin up, and puff your chest up. See how that makes you feel!
Alright, now on to the actual topic of this post – fitness fashion! I’m not going to go on another one of my rants about how much I love Fabletics, but I am going to tell you all about how this month’s outfit helped me channel my inner superhero.
This month’s outfit, courtesy of Fabletics, is the Turnout 2-Piece Outfit. The outfit comes with the Jessie Seamless Crop Top and the High-Waisted Seamless Turbo Legging. The colors are abyss and lilac – two shades of one of my favorite colors (purple)!
First and foremost, I really love the material. Fabletics does seamless really well, particularly when the seamless material is on high-waisted bottoms.
The material is breathable but not lightweight, so you don’t have to worry about a mooning situation or dealing with the material being too light as we start to transition into fall.
The detailing in this outfit is really what gives it that superhero edge. The color blocking and the accents to give you that extra POW really set this outfit off.
The one qualm I have – and I’m warning you now that this is going to sound ridiculous – is that it made me feel a little too… swole. By that, I mean that the cut in the sleeves was just a little snugger than I would like, but I do have bigger arms, so it makes sense that this was the one area where I didn’t appreciate it being as close to my skin. Nonetheless, the look is fire, if I can say so myself.
Frankly, I don’t want to wear it for a traditional workout. I want to wear it for ax throwing or finding vigilante justice in the streets of Gotham. Whichever opportunity comes first.
Alright, your turn: Name your favorite superhero, or tell me some superhero/superpower shows and movies you love. I’m almost done binging Shameless on Netflix and think I could use a superhero palate cleanser!
