I had been talking about starting my own podcast for a while, and I finally did it! It took several friends and colleagues asking, “what do you have to lose?” to inspire me to get my act together and go for it. They were right; the worst that could happen would be that my podcast stinks and that I’m the only person who listens to it!
Why A Podcast?
I love podcasts! I wrote this post for
International Podcast Day, and I’m excited to add my podcast to the list this year! 😛 Podcasts are great for storytelling, comedy, news, history, and so much more! I love listening to podcasts while I’m working out, when I go for bike rides, while running, when driving, and sometimes just during the day while I’m working on graphic design. I also have a cache of podcasts that I listen to depending on my mood. I’m a podcaster listener, y’all!
Meet The Sweat Fearlessly Podcast
Just over a week ago, I quietly published my first episode of
The Sweat Fearlessly Podcast. It’s pretty short, coming in at just over 10 minutes. I shared it with a few people to get some feedback, then posted on my personal Facebook page soliciting for friends to interview. Just a few short days later, I published my first Interview With An Athlete episode, featuring my great friend
Tikima.
Okay, so what’s the podcast about? It’s about a lot of the topics I discuss here on the blog, but with more human interest stories and interviews. My podcast topics will generally fall into three categories:
- Interview with an Athlete
- Reviews, recaps, and general information around healthy lifestyle, green living, and fitness
- The Office recaps
Down the road, I may come up with some other recurring topics, but for now, I’m going to stick with these. I know the last one seems random, but there’s a method to the madness!
Why “Sweat Fearlessly?”
What the heck does “sweat fearlessly” mean? Well, you’re going to have to listen to
the first episode to find out! Don’t worry – it’s a super short episode! You can listen to it through your shower speakers and be done listening to the episode by the time you shower and dry off!
What Episodes Are Currently Available?
As of this posting, I have published three episodes, but I have two more in draft mode, with one to-be-published this week, and another one this weekend. I’m interviewing lots of friends and family members this podcast season (what even is a podcast season?), so I’ve set myself to have solid content for the first 20 episodes or so (season 1?)
Here are the episodes that are up as of today:
- Welcome to The Sweat Fearlessly Podcast! – An overview of what to expect from The Sweat Fearlessly Podcast this season (again, what the heck is a podcast season?)
- Interview With An Athlete: Tikima Thompson – I mentioned this one! I interviewed Tikima about her fitness journey, among other things.
- Old is Gold: Interview with Yasmine Bandali-Alvarado – Have you ever thought about the environmental impact of your soap? When was the last time you used bar soap? You’ll want to listen to this episode to learn about some of the challenges with making preservative-free, cruelty-free, and environmentally conscious soap.
Where Can You Listen?
This is probably the most important part, right?
As of today, you can find The Sweat Fearlessly Podcast on
Anchor,
Spotify,
Breaker,
Castbox,
Pocket Casts, and
RadioPublic. It’s pending on Google Podcasts, so it should be up soon, and I’ll be tackling the Apple Podcasts/Overcast beast at some point in the next week. (It’s definitely a more complicated process – especially if you’re not an Apple user.)
Where do you usually listen to podcasts?
What Next?
If you have someone you think would be great to have on as a guest, please
let me know! They don’t have to be an athlete to be interviewed – they could be an
Office superfan or a subject matter expert on DIYfoot scrubs. I’d love to meet them!
