DIY Weight Loss Jars
Greetings, friends!
I come to you today with a little DIY project. I know I don’t post these very often (mostly because I don’t have a lot of time for DIY projects these days), but I thought this one was fun, and could be a little motivational nudge for those of us out there who are looking for a fun way to continue losing weight — especially since we’re officially into the summer!
This is a super easy, cheap, and quick DIY project. In fact, most of the supplies for this project were purchased at the dollar store (or 99 cent store, for my NYC friends)!
What is the purpose of these weight loss jars? Well, there are a few answers to this question. First and foremost, I have found that it is a lot more motivating for me to continue my weight loss journey when I can actually see results. With these jars, you can see the marbles disappear from the “Weight To Lose” jar while you fill up your “Weight Lost” jar!
Another good use for the jars is to encourage your friends, family, and/or colleagues to join you. Just use a different color for each participant! Another way I’m using the jars is to have a little healthy competition with friends. We all have the same weight loss goal through the end of the year, and it’s fun to see who has the most marbles in which jar.
Here are the supplies you’ll need for this project:
- Two Jars (we used 32 oz jars, but you can use smaller jars for just yourself or up to 3-4 people, depending on weight loss goals)
- Duct Tape
- Ribbon (optional)
- Paper
- Marbles
Basically, all you need to do is tape the lid of the jar, and tape down the paper labels for the jars. We tied ribbon around the tops of the jars to make them more festive. In the “Weight To Lose” jar, we put in one marble per half pound per person. Each person has their own color marble, that way you can see how each person is doing; however, if you want to keep this confidential, or if it’s just for you, you can stick with one color marble.
And that’s all there is to it! If you decide to make your own weight loss jars, or have a little weight loss competition, please feel free to share it in the comments!
Great idea!!
I don't do weight loss but I could totally see adapting it to fit personal goals.
