Montgomery County, Maryland Finally Has An Athleta
On April 24, 2021, I attended the grand opening celebration for the Athleta store in Rockville, Maryland, located in Congressional Plaza on Rockville Pike. I had the opportunity to host a meet and greet, which was a first for me! One of my sisters and many of my friends and cycle students showed up to support me, and my heart was so full! It was such a great event, and the staff at the Athleta store were so helpful and friendly. It really felt like a community.
It was also great that some of my family, friends, and students from my indoor cycling classes were able to attend the event. I’m always so humbled by the love and support I receive from the people I care about!
There were many sponsors at the event, and I finally got the chance to try some of Crumbl Cookies‘ mini cookies. They were so good that I wanted to eat the entire table’s worth of those doggone cookies! Amazing!
One of the event sponsors was Curious Lime, a local business specializing in embroidery and customization. They were embroidering and/or screen printing face masks at the store throughout the event. I picked up a pack of two Athleta face masks, and they added a little logo and initials to each one. What a cool event idea!
Sport & Health at Pike & Rose – the place where I teach classes three times a week – was also a sponsor at the event, and our club was giving away a free gym pass for a month. I didn’t get a chance to see who won, but I hope they make it to one of my classes!
The store is gorgeous! Apparently, it’s the largest one in our region, and it has a large inventory. The fitting rooms are really nice and spacious, and the layout of the store makes it easy to find what you’re looking for.
When you walk up to the storefront, you can see size-inclusive mannequins – including little girl mannequins since they carry Athleta Girl!
There is ample parking, as it’s on the end of the shopping center that is less hectic as far as parking is concerned. Parking is free in this shopping center, which is a major step up from having to drive down to Georgetown and pray for an expensive parking spot somewhere in a 10 block radius!
The staff is super friendly and knows their merchandise! I’ve visited a few times since the grand opening celebration, and one of the most successful Athleta shopping trips I had was when a salesperson had me try on their joggers, and I ended up buying a few different styles. Now I want them in more colors! (I’ll have to head back up there today…) I didn’t have to leave my fitting room to exchange sizes, and they found items that matched my personal style and activity.
Have you ever shopped at an Athleta store? What are your favorite Athleta items?
