My Goals for December 2019
Yes, I acknowledge that we’re already into December, but it doesn’t mean I can’t still set goals! (I got a delayed start on the month anyway, so cut me some slack please!)
First, let’s review how I did on my November goals, then we can talk about my goals for December.
FTP Test – Yeah, so I still haven’t done this! Before the month is up, I hope to have completed my FTP test. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now. I just need to set aside some time and just do it!
Drop 3-5 Pounds – I think that I actually did hit this goal, but I haven’t stepped on the scale to confirm it. My clothes are starting to fit looser, and my arms and midsection are definitely slimming down. I had my first InBody Composition Scan, so I’m sure I’ll find out for sure before this month is up how I’m doing with my weight loss goal.
Try a new class – Yeah… I’m pretty sure I didn’t do this. I did practice yoga for the first time in a long time, so it was like new, but I can’t recall actually adding a new workout to the lineup.
Go for a Hike – Yes! Finally, one I can check off the list definitively! I went hiking the day after Thanksgiving for #OptOutside Friday. It was a fun hike with friends, and the weather wasn’t too chilly once we got moving.
Weekly Run – This for sure didn’t happen. I spent more time focusing on swimming in November than I did on running, but it’s all good. I will get back on my feet soon enough!
Attend All of My Swim Classes – I did it! So far I have attended all of my swim classes, and I’m really starting to notice a difference. I’m getting more confident in the water, and I’m actually able to go a greater distance without having to start. I have a long way to go, but it’s always great when you have marked improvement!
Weekly Yoga – I was bad with this one. I halfway hit the goal, but I did not go weekly. I’m going to try to attack this goal again.
Weekly Strength Training – This one was checked off the list proudly! I started personal training again, so I have a calendar date each week with my trainer and weights. I’m noticing a difference in my strength and mobility, and it’s benefitting my overall fitness. I’m trying to build in a second day each week to strength train on my own, but I’ve had limited success with this.
So now that we have gone through the good, the bad, and the ugly from last month, let me tell you what I’m adding to my goals for this month, and what I’m carrying over from November:
December Goals
- NEW! Swim once a week. I’ve been doing pretty well with this, and have even gotten in 2-3 swims per week. I want to maintain this consistency so that I can keep improving.
- NEW! Get my new road bike road-ready. This isn’t going to take a lot of work but will require me to set aside some time to focus on this.
- NEW! Write out my race calendar as it currently stands. This is pretty self-explanatory.
- NEW! Try a new recipe. Whether I make one up on my own or I pick something out of one of my cookbooks or Pinterest boards, I want to try something new this month!
- Take that dang FTP test!
- Try a new class.
- Take a hike.
- Weekly yoga.
- Continue dropping weight.
- Go for at least 2 runs in December.
