My Experience with a Plant Based Yogurt Alternative
This post is sponsored by Vega, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own based on my truthful experience.
I am not a morning person. At. All. But I am a night person, which means that a lot of the workouts I do are in the evening/nighttime, which is not necessarily ideal for making smart food decisions. I have made a lot of bad choices after late-night volleyball games, but I’ve really been making great strides at having lighter, protein-rich snacks/meals at night.
Lately, I’ve been gobbling up the new Vega Protein Cashewmilk Yogurt Alternative. This is a plant-based yogurt alternative that has the highest protein per serving of any plant-based yogurt alternative on the market – 13 grams per serving! Your body needs carbs and protein after an intense workout to repair your muscles, and this yogurt alternative is a great way to hit both! Plus, it tastes pretty good! (It comes in raspberry, blueberry, vanilla, and strawberry flavors.) This is a brand with many products I’ve tried – particularly when I’m looking for plant-based alternatives.
I’m so happy that they carry this product at the Whole Foods near my house! You can find it in the section with yogurt alternatives at Whole Food. If you don’t have a Whole Foods near you, you can find out where else this product is sold by checking out Vega’s locator here.
Okay, so this is all great, but when do I eat it? Interestingly, I haven’t been eating it for breakfast, which seems like the obvious choice, right? Instead, I’ve been eating it either between work and working out, or after a workout or volleyball game where it’s too late at night for me to eat a full meal. I like that it satisfies me enough to not have to go to bed hungry, while giving me a great source of plant-based protein!
This fall, I’m really focusing on making better food choices on my journey to weight loss. It’s not easy, but there are so many tools available to make it less difficult. After teaching an indoor cycling class, instead of going to one of the fast casual spots outside of the gym, I know that I have some Vega Protein Cashewmilk Yogurt Alternative at home that I can tear up as soon as I walk in the door. A long volleyball doubleheader that ends at 10:30 p.m.? Bam! Chow down on the good stuff before I hit the shower. Bonus: It doesn’t require me to microwave or heat anything up, so I don’t make enough noise in the kitchen to wake up my fiance! (He’s a teacher, so he has to go to bed much earlier than I do.)
Now, don’t you want to try it out?! Which flavor are you most interested in trying out first?
