If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you might have noticed that I have been trying out different flavors of a vegan protein shake called Vegan1. I have tried out banana, chocolate, vanilla, and chai flavors. (Who knew protein shakes came in chai flavor??) They have been absolutely delicious!
Okay, so let me back up a second, because you know I’m always getting ahead of myself. I was contacted by Nutrition53, which is a health and fitness company based out of California. They specialize in nutritional supplement drinks, of which the Vegan1 protein shakes are just one.
Vegan1 shakes are just that — vegan. Each serving provides you with 20g of plant-based protein. There are all sorts of fruits and vegetables each serving, which you can check out here. These shakes are allergen and gluten free, and contain no dairy or soy. There are also no artificial sweeteners, colors, or flavors, which I especially appreciate. So many products on the market now have all sorts of artificial elements which just upset my stomach and make me frown.
One of the selling points on why I agreed to test out these shakes is because their Founder & CEO is former NFL player Bill Romanowski. I asked my dad if he knew about him (because I’m hit or miss on NFL players’ names), and he said, “yeah! He’s been doing these commercials for some protein shakes I’ve been wanting to test out!” Sold. I’m not going to say anything negative, because I’m all about people having second chances, but I will say that the guy won and started in several Super Bowls, so you know he was a heck of an athlete during his heyday.
Okay, so back to the shakes.
I’ve been using the Vegan1 shakes as a meal replacement, primarily after late volleyball games. They’re really delicious, and they are a great source of protein – something I’m always seeking. I like that it is gentle on my stomach, and that they aren’t filled with junk.
You can buy them online through Nutrition53’s online shop, and can even get some great recipe ideas from their site. I’m on the hunt for a good recipe for the chai smoothie, though I suspect I’ll just chug it as is (it’s so yummy!). I’m so boring when it comes to smoothie recipes, so I really appreciate having the website as a reference.
