Why I Want to Teach Indoor Cycling
I’m going to BlogFest again this year! I’m so excited! I had such an amazing time last year, learned so much, and met so many inspiring people. I can’t wait to do it all again!
This year’s BlogFest is being held in Las Vegas, and I’m doubly excited because I’ve never been to Vegas, let alone Nevada, before! Hooray to checking another state off the list!
I coached various levels of volleyball for years, so while I’m not a group fitness instructor or a certified personal trainer, I have coached large groups of teenagers through exercise. That counts for something, right?
I love yoga, but I don’t think I’d be a very good teacher at this point in my life or my practice. Something with cardio, some bumpin’ music, and a lot of sweat sounded more up my alley. When I saw that Schwinn was holding an indoor cycling instructor training at this year’s conference, I thought, could I do that?
I’ve always loved indoor cycling. It’s so much fun — especially when the music is good! The classes at my gym are taught by really good, fun teachers with excellent taste in music, and I’ve had fun at boutique cycling studios like Zengo Cycle as well. After going to a few more classes at my gym recently, I realized…
It’s so much fun! I love how challenging it is, and how much it makes me sweat!
After one of my classes last week, I spoke with the Tuesday instructor, Charlene, about how she got certified, why, and what advice she has for someone who wants to get certified. She was extremely encouraging, and talked me into it! Now, I just need to bite the bullet and pay for the class before it’s too late!
For those of you who have been certified to teach a group fitness class, I ask: In what exercise are you certified? How long did your certification process take? Do you have any suggestions for someone going in for their first certification?
For those of you who attend group fitness classes: What makes you want to come back for a class? What do you look for in an instructor?
That's awesome that this year it's in Vegas! Have a great time!

I'll see you in Vegas this summer, I'm going to Blogfest too! My second time around 🙂 I used to teach Zumba for several years, and bootcamp classes, Power Flex, etc. but now I'm only teaching yoga and it's nice!
Oh awesome! Looking forward to meeting you there! Yoga teachers always have the best energy. Maybe one day I'll be zen enough lol

I agree! I think it's important for personal development to get out of your comfort zone every so often.
