I’m Going to Teach HIIT & Flow

I’ve already made it Facebook (and Instagram) official: Next week, I begin my teacher training for HIIT & Flow!

What is HIIT & Flow?

The HIIT & Flow workout combines high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and power vinyasa yoga, delivering a seriously sweaty workout for all fitness levels! Strength, cardio, and mobility are the three pillars of this fitness program. I got to try HIIT & Flow for the first time last year at Summer Camp, and it kicked my butt! It was such a great workout that could be modified, but which still achieved maximum sweat potential – and this is coming from someone who hardly sweats at all!

Why Am I Signing Up for Teacher Training?

I love teaching group fitness classes, and I know that this is a workout that will be enjoyed by current and future students of mine! HIIT workouts can be done in a relatively short period of time, but leave you feeling like you’ve completed a 60-minute workout (or longer!). I want to learn how to teach this format in particular because it really blends two formats that I’ve already been teaching: HIIT and yoga. While I’m new to teaching yoga classes, I have been practicing it for long enough that I feel comfortable with the poses that will be needed for HIIT & Flow.
Do I feel like I could just go out and teach a class that blends yoga and HIIT without participating in teacher training? Maybe, but I do believe that having a catalog of exercises, playlists, and information will go a long way!

How Many Certifications is that Now?

Honestly… I’m starting to lose count! Throughout this pandemic, I have completed several certifications, including barre, yoga, and TRX, and I’m not even done! I believe that we’re all lifelong learners, and I don’t see any reason to stop now! Completing all of these courses have taught me so much about my body, fitness, goal-setting, and mindfulness – just to name a few lessons learned.
I’m not saying all of this to sound like a know-it-all or a nerd (though, admittedly, I’m a bit of column A and column B), but to say that I’ve made the most of this time by focusing on professional development and knowledge acquisition. #nerdalert I feel more empowered now in teaching all of the various formats because I just know more about the human body and exercise now than I did this time last year!

What’s Next?

I’m super excited to go through training with some of my friends (my friend De and I just talked about flooring solutions!), learn a new fitness format, and deliver amazing classes to clients, friends, and family. I’m so grateful for this opportunity, and I can’t wait to get started!⁣ ⁣

Have you ever taken a HIIT & Flow class? How about a regular HIIT class? Have you done any professional OR personal development this year?
