January 2021 Goals

It’s a new month and a new year, so you know I’m in major goal-setting mode! You can catch up on some of my mindset goals for 2021 by reading 5 Things I’m Bringing With Me into 2021 and 5 Things I’m Leaving Behind in 2020.
Last month, I set 5 goals for the month:
  • Teach 5 Yoga Classes – Nailed it! I was able to teach four vinyasa classes and one restorative yoga class. I am feeling more comfortable each time I teach yoga, so I was really happy that I was able to squeeze in an extra class!
  • Blog More – I did it! I can blog even more, but I was able to hit this goal.
  • Create a Workout to Share with All of You – This one… Yikes. I’ll be honest: I forgot about this goal. Whoops! I had so much going on, that I totally lost track of this one! 
  • Wrap Up Season 1 of the Sweat Fearlessly Podcast – I still want to record one final episode to round out the season, but I finished recording all of my interviews. I’m really excited about starting season 2!
  • Complete 50% of My Current Yoga Teacher Training – Nailed this one too! I’m inching closer to the finish line of my 500-hour yoga teacher training.
As you can see, I was able to hit most of my goals, but I have a few goals that I need to revisit and two that I’d like to repeat!

Why do I write these blog posts? 

For starters, it’s a great accountability tool for me. In fact, that’s a major reason why I started this podcast to begin with! Secondly, I like to share with all of you what I’m up to, in case any of you are having similar experiences and want to learn from my mistakes (or successes), or in case you’re curious about any specific fitness or wellness area.
Now, let’s get into these goals!

Teach My First Class on Recess.tv

I have created my teacher profile, and I’m teaching my very first class on Recess! I’ll be teaching a restorative yoga class on Tuesday, January 12 at 8:00 pm ET/5:00 pm PT. You can take this class for free with the code RESTORE. Join Recess here and join me on Tuesday! 
I also plan to teach other yoga styles as well as barre, HIIT, indoor cycling, and a few other tricks I have up my sleeve. I want to get over the hurdle of teaching my first class so that I can start teaching multiple formats in a week!

Create a Class to Share With All of You

This is a repeat from December since I definitely forgot about this goal, but I still intend to do it! 
I have no idea which class format I’m going to share, but I’m looking forward to designing it once inspiration strikes! If there’s a particular type of workout you’d like me to share (HIIT, TRX, barre, yoga, etc.), please let me know!

Hit the 75% Mark on my Yoga Teacher Training

I definitely think this goal is feasible, but it will require spending more hours studying than I have done the last few weeks. It would be great to be totally done with my yoga teacher training by my birthday, but I need to hit the 75% mark before the end of this month if I stand a chance!

Make it Halfway Through my HIIT & Flow Training

I started HIIT & Flow training last Monday, and it’s going well so far! If all goes according to plan, I should hit the halfway mark by the end of this month. I am going to have to squeeze in two HIIT & Flow classes during my workout schedule this week, but I can do it if I stick to the plan!

Go On 4 Hikes

I just started a new challenge with my friend Tikima. It’s called #50FirstHikes, and our goal is to hike 50 “new-to-me” trails this year. You can follow us on Instagram to see which trails we pick and learn more about our experiences. I will also be posting on this site in a bit more detail about each of our hiking adventures. 
In order to hit our goal, we have to go hiking at least once a week for just about every week of the year. We had planned to go hiking last weekend, but the weather was just really not great for it, so we went on a hike today and are planning to hike a bonus trail mid-week in order to play catchup. 

Start Season 2 of The Sweat Fearlessly Podcast

This is another make-up goal from December. I want to give Season 1 of my podcast a good send-off! In Season 2, I will be running a special series on eco-friendly living. In the first season, I ran a special series on Ayurveda. I learned so much about Ayurveda, and you can read this blog post for more insight.
I’m really excited about what I have planned for Season 2, and I’m looking forward to interviewing athletes again!

  • I have gotten better with my personal training sessions, and am getting back on track with my personal fitness goals!
