Fit Review: Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer

If you’re a regular Flecks of Lex reader, you know that I struggle in the morning. I really, really want to be one of those people who can wake up early, eat breakfast, go for a run, take a shower, get dressed up like they’re about to hit the read carpet, write a dissertation, and then go to work and carry on about their day like they didn’t wake up at an absurd hour. I am not one of those people, though. I need a little help to wake me up in the morning. Usually, that aid is coffee. That, of course, requires me to get up and get ready and go to Starbucks. Not the best strategy, right?

Well, little did I know that I was going to soon experience a new energizer that would give me that extra push in the morning that I’ve been missing.

When I wake up in the morning, I can barely even open my eyes. I look like some sort of mole with an afro. I received a box of Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer from the company (in exchange for this unbiased review), and read the instructions the evening I received it. It sounded pretty sweet. Basically, about 20 minutes prior to working out, you mix the powder in with cold water, stir, and drink. The packaging claimed that it was supposed to enhance your mental focus, increase your endurance, and provide you with immediate and sustained energy. Yeah right, I thought.

Well, boy, was I in for a pleasant surprise! The next morning, I woke up, and mixed up some of the Pre-Workout Energizer. I drank it, and then I laid down and starting fooling around on the computer. After about 5-10 minutes, I felt wide awake. Wide awake, people! I got up, changed into some workout clothes, and dragged my butt outside. It was great! But, I thought maybe it was a fluke. So, I gave it a try another day in the middle of the afternoon, and another in the evening after work before heading to the gym. It worked!
So, let me back up. What is Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer?
Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer is an all-natural, plant-based, dairy-, gluten-, and soy-free powder that contains no artificial flavors, colors, or ingredients. The flavor of the Pre-Workout Energizer I received was acai berry, and while it didn’t taste like juice, it didn’t have a strong taste, which I appreciated. The box I received came with little packages of the powder, individually portioned. Ideally, one would rip the package open, pour it into some cold water, and stir. Unfortunately, I am not that coordinated. Due to user error, the powder often ended up everywhere but the glass or water bottled I attempted to pour it in. Eventually, I got hip to this, and just used scissors. It was so much easier that way!
Once you get the package open, you pour the powder into 1 cup of cold water. Stir the powder to mix it. Go about your business of getting dressed for your workout, and soon you will start to feel more energized and focused. It’s that simple!
Pro tip: I have found it impossible to get all of the powder to blend and disintegrate, so don’t worry if yours doesn’t dissolve completely. It won’t taste funny or feel clumpy in your mouth!

I have actually really enjoyed using the Pre-Workout Energizer. It makes me feel awake much quicker than coffee, and doesn’t leave me feeling flat after an hour. It truly was sustainable energy! I’m going to continue to use this energizer until it runs out, and then I’m going to go to the store and buy myself some more. This is the first product I’ve found that kicks my butt into gear in the morning!
Do you fuel yourself in advance of a workout? How do you fuel up? What gives you the extra push to work out in the morning?
