Nike Women’s 15K Toronto: Did I Get Accepted?

A few months ago, my great friend and fellow runner Kelly encouraged me to enter the lottery for the Nike Women’s 15K in Toronto. Being a huge fan of Toronto, I entered the lottery, thinking there was absolutely no chance I would get accepted. As I’ve said many times before, I’m a fairly slow runner, PLUS I’m not Canadian. What were my chances? Why should I get accepted?

Okay, that’s unfair. There was no reason I shouldn’t get accepted to a random drawing. I love running, I love Toronto, and I love my Nike running shoes. Aside from the fact that I run slowly, I’m a pretty good candidate! So, did I make it?

On Friday, I received the following email from Nike Women:

I’m going to Toronto, baby! Woohoo!
Kelly and her fiance Dan also got accepted, so we will be heading to Toronto in June. I am so excited! I love going on trips with friends, and I especially love not having to race all alone!
Normally, I’d be terrified by the distance. 15K isn’t short (it’s about 9.3 miles); however, I am running the

Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run next weekend, so I’ll have experience with the length. I’m looking forward to running so much more this summer. I really love it, and now I’m working to find my favorite distance. I’ll be sharing more details about the race once I learn more, but I’m so excited to see what Nike has in store! Wish me luck!

Have you ever entered a race lottery? Were you accepted? Which race are you most looking forward to this year?
